Chop that tree!

As you know, I like to host papercutting workshops for beginners regularly. We have a lovely day. We cut, we natter. We eat cake. But I thought I'd bite the bullet and create a workshop around teaching people to cut their own personalised family tree.

I designed each person's individual family trees based on the names they gave me whe booking their place on the workshop. Their own tree was then waiting for them to arrive to learn to cut it. As previous workshops, all tools are included and are yours to take home - my two favourite scalpels and an A4 cutting mat. Plus you get three practise sheets, your own family tree (rrp £53), tea and coffee, a hot lunch from the cafe next door and wonderful afternoon tea and cakes galore.

But the night before the workshsop, I started to worry. Man, they're so INTRICATE! what if they don't like cutting that small? what if they simply keep cutting bits off and having to start again?

I needn't have been worried at all. Far from it.

Mandy, Kirsty and Nicola all did so incredibly well - we had a wonderful day. A full day of cutting - three practise sheets before embarking on their individually designed tree.

I cut alongside them too - a papercut present for my friend of her own family tree because she was looking after Nella for me for the day while my husband was away. I like to cut at the same time as the other workshoppers - it helps to guide them, so they can see how I approach certain shapes and hold the scalpel and things.

As usual, we over ran - we were all so focused and enjoying our cutting. I mean, blimey - I couldn't even get them to stop to eat CAKE. I had to FORCE them to put their scalpels down to come and eat the cake. HA!

Anyway! three happy workshoppers! Kirsty came back a few days later for me to frame her tree after she had taken it home to finish it.

NEXT WORKSHOP DATE - 5th November 2016

I am running family tree and beginners workshops concurrently on the same day, around the same table. Family Tree workshops are more expensive due to the long time involved in designing your individual family tree.

You can book here! I'd love to see you here at my little studio in Wimborne, Dorset:

goodness me look at THEM!
