It has been nearly two years since my first ever papercutting workshop which is completely hard to believe. It only seems like yesterday I was completely bricking it and wondering if anyone would actually want to come! I've hosted pretty much one a month since then and can I just say, I BLOODY love them.
More importantly it seems you lot do too.
For what can be a quiet time of year, I was so happy to welcome four lovely ladies into the Kyleighs Papercuts studio on Saturday for a Beginners Papercutting Workshop - a chance to take a step back and enjoy a replenishing, relaxing break from all the demands of life.
We ate a hearty lunch.
We created something beautiful.
We ate cake.
We laughed some more.
We didn't want the day to end.
We ran over the 4pm finish time. Yet again.
I had no idea when I first started my workshops that it wasn't simply about teaching people to papercut. It was the almost meditative aspect of stopping and being in the moment.
Creating something intricate that demands concentration, but isn't too taxing. Akin to the popularity of adult colouring books, my worshops have become about finding happiness, giving yourself a treat, while learning a new skill.
Which anyone can do. Seriously.
Oh. And cake.
Did I mention the cake?
Dates for the next workshops:
Saturday 25th February 2017
Saturday 25th March 2017
Workshops are held in my studio behind the shop in Mill Lane, Wimborne, Dorset BH21 1JQ
And are priced according to the workshop you choose - both Family Tree and Beginners workshops are held around the same table. You just cut slighly different practise sheets and end papercut pieces.
Spaces are limited - so get booking!
PS. My new year resolution is to BLOG MORE. Jeez, how many small creative businesses say that? I MUST BLOG MORE. I MUST BLOG MORE. I MUST BLOG MORE....
